Racism in Ireland – is it on the rise, or are we over reacting?

It is still the case that Irish society has adapted to being multi-cultural and multi-ethnic in a very harmonious and positive way. And this transition took place in just 10 years, during the early 2000s – whereas it took decades in the UK, where there are still substantial racial problems. This is despite the many sweeping judgments made in the UK media about racism in Irish society during the early years of the Celtic Tiger and about our societal transition – an attitude itself quite racist in its sometimes derogatory description of Ireland.
